Prince Harry pays respects to late Queen in surprise Windsor visit | UK News
Prince Harry has made a visit to a Windsor church on the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death – whilst Prince William commemorates the day 230 miles away.
The Duke of Sussex was spotted leaving Windsor’s St George’s Chapel, where the late Queen was laid to rest.
Meanwhile Prince William and Princess Kate were seen arriving at St Davids in Pembrokeshire, Wales – 230 miles away from Windsor.
The estranged brothers have not carried out any official engagements together since Harry’s tell-all memoir was published in January.
King Charles III, meanwhile, attended a memorial service at Balmoral’s parish church in Scotland.
Harry is not expected to meet either The King or The Prince of Wales during his short trip to the UK.
Harry has also revealed the reason why his wife Meghan Markle has not visited the UK with him, after he was noticeably alone when he attended the WellChild Awards last night in London.
He spoke about the reason with the family of Ruky Anighoro, 14, who were told The Duchess was ‘very upset that she couldn’t be here’ and mentioned that the couple had a ‘busy week’ ahead of them.
The Duke of Sussex also mentioned the death of his grandmother during the WellChild Awards.
He said: ‘As you know, I was unable to attend the awards last year as my grandmother passed away.
‘As you also know, she would have been the first person to insist that I still come to be with you all instead of going to her.
‘And that’s why I know that exactly one year on she’s looking down on us on all of us tonight, happy we’re together and continuing to spotlight such an incredible community.’
He missed the awards last year as he raced to Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire to join his family at the Queen’s bedside.
Charles is not expected to have time in his diary to see Harry.
