A suspected drunk driver in Nebraska called 911 on himself after he began driving on the wrong side of a highway.

Sheriff’s deputies in Lancaster County, Nebraska responded to a 911 call earlier this year from a driver who was concerned about another driver speeding down the wrong side of a State Highway 77.

‘I’m on Highway 77 going north, and someone is on the wrong side of the road,’ the concerned driver told 911 dispatchers. ‘He had his brights on man, he almost ran me off the road.’

But as patrol officers quickly realized the caller was the one going the wrong way. Sheriff’s deputies found his location and pulled him over.

‘Do you know why I stopped you?’ the arresting officer asked the driver.

‘Yeah, cause I was on the wrong side of the road,’ the driver answered as he realized he called the police on himself.

‘I must have missed an exit,’ he told the arresting officer.

After administering a breathalyzer, officers determined his blood-alcohol content was over twice the legal limit to drive.

The driver also quickly confessed to also calling in the tip.

‘Were you the one that called in?’ the arresting officer asked the suspected drunk driver.

‘Yeah, because I thought somebody was on the wrong side of the f—ing road,’ he said.

‘And it turned out it was you,’ the officer said.

‘Yep, like a dumb f—,’ the driver added.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office shared video and recordings from the bizarre incident as a warning not to get behind the wheel after drinking over Labor Day weekend.

‘Thankfully a Lancaster County Sheriff’s deputy was able to arrest this driver before anyone was seriously hurt,’ the office said.
