A Londoner who appears to have unknowingly won £1,000,000 in the Lottery last month still hasn’t claimed it.

The winning Lotto ticket was bought in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets for the draw that took place last month on August 19.

Any National Lottery players are now being urged to check their tickets in case they have won the life-changing sum of money.

The winning ticket, which was purchased from the East London borough, matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the draw last month.

These winning Lotto numbers were 2, 7, 17, 28, 31, 37 and the Bonus Ball was number 8.

Whoever owns this ticket now has until February 15 2024 to claim their prize.

If a lottery winner no longer has their ticket for some reason, but believes they have a genuine claim, they can still write to Camelot to make their claim – however, they must do so within 30 days of the draw.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery said: ‘We are desperate to find this mystery ticket-holder and unite them with their winnings. This amazing prize could really make an enormous difference to somebody’s life!

‘We’re urging anyone who bought a ticket in this area to check their old Lotto tickets again – the easiest way to do this is via the National Lottery app – and by looking anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.

‌’On Lotto, every ticket-holder who matches five main numbers and the Bonus Ball is guaranteed to win an incredible £1m, and there were a total of five from this draw.

‘It’s worth spending a bit of time checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa for this missing ticket. We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win.’

How to check if you’ve won the Lottery

Lottery players can buy and check tickets online by downloading the National Lottery app or by visiting its website.

They can also buy and check tickets in retail, for example in UK Post Office branches.

If you play online or via the app you should get an email notification if you win a prize.

If you’ve bought your ticket in store you can still scan it on the National Lottery app to check if you’ve won.

Anyone who has any queries or who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the National Lottery draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 5050 or email help@national-lottery.co.uk.

If no-one claims the winning ticket before the deadline, all the prize money plus the interest it has generated will go to help National Lottery-funded projects around the UK.

Just by playing any National Lottery game, players already generate £30 million every week for these projects.

Among the good causes helped by the money are women’s and girl’s football projects across the four nations of the UK, following on from the Lionesses’ history-making run at this year’s World Cup.

No matter which National Lottery draw it is, players have 180 days from the day of the draw to claim their prize.
