Boy, 15, admits stabbing hero Tewkesbury teacher in school corridor | UK News

A teenager has today pleaded guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm with intent after stabbing a mathematics teacher in school.
The 15-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, admitted the charge at the start of a two-day trial Bristol Magistrates’ Court.
Tewkesbury Academy, in Gloucestershire, where the attack took place, went into a lockdown immediately and police were called.
Two neighbouring schools were also asked to go into urgent measures and lock their doors, whilst officer swooped in.
Meanwhile, a crowd of terrified parents were told to wait for updates at a nearby garden centre.
Teacher Jamie Sansom suffered a single stab wound in the corridor of the school on July 10.
He was discharged from hospital on the same day, said at the time his recovery was going ‘well’.
There were reports he had been intervening in a fight between students when the incident happened, but he later denied this.
The defendant had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing a bladed article.
He was remanded into custody until a sentencing hearing at Cheltenham Youth Court on September 28.
