Lidl has recalled a range of children’s snacks from its stores after customers reportedly complained a link on the packaging took them to an ‘explicit’ website.

The budget supermarket chain said it was removing Paw Patrol Yummy Bakes and Paw Patrol Mini Biscotti, saying the website was ‘not suitable for child consumption’.

The URL took customers to a pornographic site, according to reports by The Sun.

In Lidl’s recall notice on its website, customers are recommended to ‘refrain’ from looking at the site and to take the products to their nearest store for a refund.

The products listed are: Paw Patrol All Butter Mini Biscotti Biscuits, Paw Patrol Choc Chip Mini Biscotti Biscuits, Paw Patrol Yummy Bake Bars Raspberry Flavour and Paw Patrol Yummy Bake Bars Apple Flavour.

Underneath, the retailer wrote: ‘Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned branded product as we have been made aware that the URL of the supplier which is featured on the back of the packaging has been compromised and is being directed to a site that is not suitable for child consumption.

‘We recommend that customers refrain from viewing the URL and return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.’

It asks concerned customers who want more information to contact the supermarket’s customer care team.

According to the Mirror, Lidl said the snacks are manufactured by Appy Kids Co.

Paw Patrol is a popular kids TV show about a boy called Ryder who leads a crew of search and rescue dogs in training on missions to protect their community.

The recall comes just days after Lidl it pulled a line of mayonnaise off its shelves and around a week after it issued another recall for a children’s chair swing.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) ordered stores to pull Potts’ Truffle Mayonnaise after an alarm was raised about contamination.

The watchdog urged shoppers to not to eat the condiment due to the health risk and return it to stores for a refund.

Customers were told to check the use by date and the batch number for the listed product.

Shortly before that recall, Lidl announced on its website that some batches of its Playtive 3-in-1 Swing have a fault which means they can tilt and potentially become dangerous.

It advised customers to stop using the swing and to return it for a full refund.
