Joanna Daniels, mitigating, said Sarah had been a victim of violence in the past and has suffered with mental health difficulties.

Ms Daniels added the sisters were fighting difference people and had not launched a ‘gang attack’.

She said Sarah was sorry for what she had done and showed ‘every prospect of complete rehabilitation’.

Defending Katie, Martin Saxon told the court that his client had seen her sister being ‘manhandled’ and then ‘all hell broke loose’ afterwards.

Mr Saxon said Katie had endured a traumatic childhood and had spent time in mental health facilities.

He added that his client posed a low risk of reoffending.

Both were handed an 18 month community order.

They must also complete

rehabilitation days and 90 alcohol abstinence days. They must pay £320 each in costs.

Sarah was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
