Bow: Fire service rushes to attend huge pub blaze as area cordoned off | UK News
Around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines have been called to the scene of a huge blaze in east London.
A large area of Bow around Fairfield Road and Bow Road has been cordoned off as the flames are tackled.
Videos from the scene showed thick black smoke rising from the roof of the building, with some high-rises in the local area being obscured in the cloud.
London Fire Brigade initially said the fire was at a pub, but later described the incident as taking place at a business centre.
A statement from the service said: ‘Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters have been called to a fire at a business centre on Fairfield Road in Row.
‘The Brigade was called at 6.04pm and is still at the scene.
‘Fire crews from Bethnal Green, Whitechapel, Homerton and surrounding fire stations are in attendance.
‘The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.’
