Trump says ‘no one has fought for integrity like Donald J Trump’ | US News
Former President Donald Trump announced when he will ‘proudly be arrested’ while bizarrely referring to himself in the third person.
Trump on Wednesday morning wrote on his Truth Social platform: ‘NOBODY HAS EVER FOUGHT FOR ELECTION INTEGRITY LIKE PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.’
He then revealed the day and time of day he plans to turn himself in for arrest on charges around his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia.
‘FOR DOING SO, I WILL PROUDLY BE ARRESTED TOMORROW AFTERNOON IN GEORGIA,’ wrote Trump. ‘GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!’
Various news outlets reported earlier this week that Trump intended to surrender on Thursday, but whether it would be in the morning, afternoon or later was not known.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has given Trump and his 18 co-defendants until this Friday at noon to hand themselves over. Trump is expected to be booked into Fulton County Jail.
As of Wednesday afternoon, several of the ex-president’s allies had already turned themselves and had their mugshots taken including Trump lawyer John Eastman, Atlanta poll watcher and bail bondsman Scott Hall and former Georgia state Senator David Shafer.
Trump’s former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani surrendered on Wednesday afternoon. His mugshot was not immediately released.
The former president is also expected to have a mugshot taken, which did not happen when he surrendered in three earlier cases.
Trump in another Truth Social post said, ‘For the first time in three years, brave American Patriots will be able, in Court, to show how the Presidential Election of 2020 was RIGGED & STOLLEN.’
Amid his fourth arraignment, Trump is skipping the first 2024 Republican debate hosted by Fox News. His campaign noted his 62-16 lead in the GOP primary.
Trump campaign senior adviser Chris LaCivita stated: ‘President Trump has already won this evening’s debate because everything is going to be about him.
‘Only President Trump has the policy ideas, the fortitude, and the polling to go head-to-head with Crooked Joe Biden in the general election.’
Trump also promoted an interview with Tucker Carlson, who was fired from Fox News earlier this year, that will air at 9pm, exactly the same time as the GOP debate.
