Rudy Giuliani’s mugshot released as he has ‘every confidence’ in Trump | US News

Ex-President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani surrendered for arrest in the Georgia election interference case and authorities have unveiled his mugshot.
Giuliani appeared stern and determined in his mugshot released by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office shortly before 5pm on Wednesday.
After being booked at Fulton County Jail and released, Giuliani said he had spoken to Trump earlier in the day.
‘I talked to the president today. I wish him well,’ Giuliani told reporters outside the jail.
‘I have every confidence in him.’
Trump reciprocated quickly and expressed support for Giuliani, who is a former mayor of New York City.
‘The greatest Mayor in the history of New York City was just ARRESTED in Atlanta, Georgia, because he fought for Election Integrity,’ wrote Trump on his Truth Social platform at 5pm.
‘THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED & STOLLEN. HOW SAD FOR OUR COUNTRY. MAGA!’
Giuliani’s bond was set at $150,000. He faces 13 felony counts including allegedly making false statements, violating the state’s anti-racketeering law, and asking a public official to violate their oath of office.
The former mayor accused Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis of lodging an attack on the US Constitution by bringing charges against him, Trump and 17 other allies of the ex-president.
‘Five other lawyers are indicted. That should tell you right away that this is an assault on our Constitution,’ Giuliani said.
‘Fani Willis will go down in American history as having conducted one of the worst attacks on the American Constitution ever when this case is dismissed.’
Giuliani claimed that Willis’ investigation ‘violated’ First Amendment rights as well as the right to petition the government over an election that many Americans believe was ‘poorly conducted or falsely conducted’.
Before surrendering, Giuliani told reporters that he planned to plead not guilty.
He shared shared lament over having to have a mugshot taken as he credited himself for having ‘probably put the worst criminals of the 20th century in jail’ as mayor from 1994 to 2001.
‘You find a prosecutor who has a better record than mine in the last hundred years – I bet you don’t,’ Giuliani said.
‘I’m the same Rudy Giuliani who took down the mafia, made New York City the safest city in America, reduced crime more than any mayor in the history of any city anywhere, and I’m fighting for justice.’
Video footage later appeared Giuliani appearing to enter a bail bond agency building.
Trump on Thursday morning announced he ‘will proudly be arrested’ on Thursday afternoon.
About half of Trump’s co-defendants had turned themselves in for arrest and had their mugshots released as of Wednesday evening.
