Rosaviatsia, Russia’s aviation agency, said in a statement on Wednesday: ‘An investigation has been launched into an Embraer plane crash that occurred tonight in the Tver region.
‘According to the passenger list, the name and surname of Yevgeny Prigozhin is among them.’
It’s also believed Dmitry Utkin, the founder of mercenary group Wagner, was on the flight.
He and Prigozhin were listed as being amongst the seven passengers and three crew on the plane – but it’s not yet clear if they both boarded the flight.
So far, eight bodies have been recovered from the wreckage, after the plane crashed shortly before 6pm local time on Wednesday.
