Has mystery of ‘7ft aliens attacking villagers in Peru’ been solved? | World News
‘Floating seven-foot aliens’ who have been attacking a village in Peru are illegal gold miners wearing jetpacks, local prosecutors have said.
Indigenous Ikitu people in the district of Alto Nanay claim they have been attacked by mysterious armoured figures ’every night’ since July 11.
But the Peruvian government’s prosecutor Carlos Castro Quintanilla has said these ‘aliens’ are actually gang members operating in the area.
He believes they are using the attacks to scare locals into staying inside their homes and away from the nearby illegal gold mines.
These gang members look as if they are ‘floating’ because they are using jetpacks to navigate the jungles near the Nanay River basin where they can mine more gold, Mr Quintanilla told Radio Programas del Perú (RRP).
He said: ‘They would be using state-of-the-art technology, such as thrusters that allow people to fly.’
Mr Quintanilla specialises in environmental issues in the Loreto region, which includes Alto Nanay.
He explained that these gangs, which he believes are made up mostly of Brazilian and Colombian criminals, conduct 80% of their illegal business in the Nanay River basin.
The leader of the Ikitu nation, Jairo Reátegui Ávila, was the first to call the attackers aliens, after his people made a desperate plea for the military to save them.
He said: ‘These gentlemen are aliens. They appear to be armoured like the Green Goblin from Spider-Man.
‘I shot one of them twice and he wasn’t injured, he rose and disappeared. We’re very frightened about what’s happening here in our community.‘
A 15-year-old girl was allegedly grabbed from behind and had her neck cut when she resisted.
The villagers described the attackers’ shoes as ’round-shaped, which they use to float one metre from the ground with a red light on the heel’.
