Milton Keynes: People are obsessed with this cone on a lamp post | UK News

People in Milton Keynes have been left confused after a traffic cone has appeared on top of a lamp post.
A picture of the cone shows it balancing rather precariously on top of the pole by the side of the road in the Kingston area of the city.
Jedd Eagleton, who posted the image, gravely warned those on Facebook to be ‘careful of this particular lamp post’.
It is unclear how the cone came to be perched so high up, but some have told of seeing a mysterious man scaling the light at night.
Rebecca Kowalski commented: ‘I saw someone climbing it last night around 9.30pm. I presumed it must have been a mechanic of sorts but no harness or any equipment.
‘Actually I swear I didn’t see them carrying a frigging cone.’
Others have theorised the weather prompted the lamp post to become sentient and use the cone as a hat.
‘It’s p***ing down that much even the lamp post has got a hat on,’ Bri Dger wrote.
Commenters have also remarked on the striking resemblance the pole has to Harry Potter, with Simon Cavendish saying ‘you’re a wizard lampy’.
Although others fear the potential danger in case the cone falls onto their car, some have argued it is safe as it has been ‘coned off’.
‘You’ll be ok the cone implies it’s dangerous at the top of the pole not the bottom,’ Wayne Shaw added.
Requests are now coming in to make the cone a permanent feature on the lamp post.
Craig Tigue wrote: ‘Need to see more of this around this dull, lifeless city.’
‘Please someone glue it down and make it a permanent feature,’ Ollie Jones asked.
Milton Keynes Council has been contacted for comment.
