A new video from the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) appears to warn Russians of an impending attack on multiple cities coming in less than a month.

The short video, posted on the AFU StratCom Telegram channel, shows a young cartoon boy beside a ruined house weeping over a drawing of a family with a Ukrainian flag.

He turns the drawing into a paper plane, which then turns into a drone – which in turn becomes part of a fleet.

Red lines are then shown moving from different parts of Ukraine to places in Russia or occupied by Russia, including Sevastopol and Melitopol.

The final red line is shown extending from Kyiv to Moscow, before the screen goes dark and a date is given: August 24.

That is the date of the Independence Day of Ukraine, which commemorates the day in 1991 when the country broke free from the Soviet Union.

Last year, the day was marked by threats of airstrikes on Kyiv, with some city residents fleeing the area.

In its caption for the video, AFU StratCom wrote in Ukrainian: ‘The year of retribution continues. Dates are subject to change.

‘And the result remains – the pain and tragedy of the occupiers.’

The clip was released a day after three drone missiles attacked government buildings in Moscow.

The city’s mayor Sergei Sobyanin said there had been no deaths, but the facades of two office towers were ‘slightly damaged’.

Zelensky did not confirm or deny that Ukraine was behind the attacks, but said in his nightly address: ‘Gradually, the war is returning to the territory of Russia – to its symbolic centres and military bases, and this is an inevitable, natural and absolutely fair process.’
